Perlmutter & Idea Development (P&ID) focuses on holistic process solutions. This approach resonates in the marketplace and is the background for this blog and my presentation at the upcoming Powder & Bulk Solids Conference (PB&S) in Chicago.
P&BS recognizes the interconnectivity of powders and solid-liquid separation and asked me to present on Solid-Liquid Separation Technologies for Process Applications on the Center Stage, on Wednesday, 30 April at 11:30 AM. I am honored to participate in this great opportunity to connect with technical experts and engineers in the bulk materials and processing industry.
Every Process is Unique — But Holistic Works for All
As I’ve said before, and will probably say again, every process solution has distinct requirements that necessitates a holistic approach to solid-liquid separation technologies selection. My presentation will uncover:
- Slurry characteristics and process parameters considerations
- Bulk separation technologies for high solids slurries
- Selecting batch or continuous operations, pressure and vacuum
- Clarification for removing or recovery of small particle fines for solids in the 1 – 5% solids range to PPM levels
We’ll examine these for a range of applications including chemical, pharmaceutical, energy, lithium, battery materials and recycling.
Holistic Process Solution Decision-Making
Concluding the presentation, we review P&ID’s Solid-Liquid Separation Decision Matrix, which we released in 2024. The Decision Matrix has realized great success in helping to guide chemical process engineer’s decision-making. To use the matrix, you complete each box related to material properties, mechanical properties of the technology, and separation technology performance relevant to your application. Then, you’ll discuss and evaluate the ranked choices that surface with operational, economic, and plant (internal and external) objectives in mind.
If you’re still deciding whether to attend the P&BS Chicago Conference, I hope this blog helps you to decide. I know I’m looking forward to the opportunity to share insights and advice while expanding my network, leveling up my expertise and staying current with the latest trends and tools. The image above even offers you a discount code.
If you can’t make the event, please know that I’m happy to present this seminar at a “Lunch & Learn” or a design a custom training at your facility. Contact P&ID today!
